The Julius Prague: Luxury Living in The City of a Hundred Spires
Situated in what is arguably Prague’s most coveted location in Nové Město, The Julius stands mere steps away from Wenceslas Square and the Old Town, with a history that stretches back to the 19th century. Behind the Neo-Renaissance heritage-protected façade on the cobbled streets of Senovážné Square, The Julius residence houses 168 meticulously designed rooms and suites, redefining what it means to stay in style in the City of a Hundred Spires.

WHY VISIT PRAGUE
Dominated by the majestic Prague Castle, the city's historic skyline is filled Gothic cathedrals, Baroque domes, and medieval towers. The Old Town Square fascinates, with monuments dedicated to Master Jan Hus and the Hussite wars and hourly chimes from the Astronomical Clock.

The iconic Charles Bridge connects to the Malá Strana with fairy-tale views of the Vltava River. Visit the Jewish Quarter to uncover stories of resilience, join a guided walk, or escape to the leafy retreats of Wallenstein Gardens and Vyšehrad fortress. With brewing traditions dating back to the 6th century, sampling Czech pivo is an integral cultural experience. If you want to shop, Pařížská Street is lined with luxury fashion houses and local stores sell authentic hand-cut Bohemian crystal.
FIRST IMPRESSIONS
After a full day exploring Prague, comfort definitely calls. From the moment you step through its doors, The Julius feels considered. Its understated 5-star luxury is not flashy. Just clean lines, soft light and attention to detail. The lobby combines deep teal curtains, sleek silver counters and a warm welcome.
You can check in easily at the self-service kiosk, but I chose to speak with the friendly team at the front desk to get my keycard for this short stay in Prague. The pre-trip emails with personal information and preferences such as minibar stock made the checking-in process a speedy one.
ROOMS & SUITES
Each space feels thoughtfully curated, from the unassuming lobby to the serene corridors leading to the rooms. The Julius has everything from deluxe rooms to elegant penthouses, each designed with the modern traveller in mind. My one-bedroom suite featuring floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the beautifully planted courtyard.

The suite included a fully equipped kitchenette with a hob, matching SMEG kettle and toaster, dishwasher, and coffee machine using biodegradable capsules, alongside a living area and bedroom separated by a sleek oak-wood divider, and the autumnal hues found in Czech artist Alphonse Mucha’s paintings. Thoughtful touches such as premium bedding, large-screen TVs in each room, and blackout electric-powered curtains enhanced the experience. The WiFi was a strong and the digital-first approach made ‘how to’ guides, housekeeping orders and facilities information easy to find.
The marble-clad bathroom, complete with a walk-in rain shower, separate toilet, soft organic cotton towels and dressing gown, and refillable vegan toiletries, was spacious with calm lighting. Meanwhile, the living room, furnished with a cosy neutral-toned sofa, provided the ideal sanctuary to unwind after a day spent exploring Prague's sights.

CONSCIOUS DINING
Culinary excellence lies at the heart of The Julius experience. The Brasserie’s signature bistro presents a thoughtfully crafted menu that harmonises local and international flavours. A sign of a good kitchen is working wonders with seasonal ingredients sourced from local farmers and artisans, complemented by sustainable techniques such as fermentation and house-made oils.

My meal began with freshly baked bread and aromatic oils, followed by an Italian-inspired appetiser of stracciatella accompanied by cherry tomatoes, roasted peppers, basil pesto, and balsamic caviar. For the main course, I indulged in veal saltimbocca, perfectly paired with Parma ham and creamy truffle polenta. As a sweet finale, the zesty lemon sorbet, enhanced with a splash of House of Julius Meinl Prosecco, proved to be a wonderful decision.

For a more casual experience, the lobby bar serves up expertly crafted cocktails, local beers and wines, and light bites. Indulge in the bar’s signature Julius Legacy cocktail or the refreshingly fruity Raspberry Kiss to cap off your evening. The décor combines chic modern lines with vibrant pops of orange in the plush seating, a colour palette inspired by the works of Czech abstract painter František Kupka.
Breakfasts are a standout affair with an indulgent spread of freshly baked pastries, local cheeses and meats, pancakes, made-to-order hot dishes and an extensive selection for plant-based or gluten-free diets. The selection of beverages is exceptional. Go for a fluffy cappuccino, create your own fresh juice, open a refreshing kombucha, or pour some bubbles. And yes, I sampled them all!
BUSINESS AS USUAL
Business travellers will appreciate the hotel’s sleek conference and meeting spaces equipped with cutting-edge technology. The comfortable co-working space has work tables with plugs, a kitchenette for tea and coffee-making and more relaxing chairs with bookshelves and views of the planted courtyard through the window. The interplay of natural light and flourishing greenery evokes a sense of tranquillity to help with a productive mind.

THE EXTRAS
Luxury at The Julius extends beyond its accommodations and dining. My morning routine started with a session in the state-of-the-art gym to help with a guilt-free breakfast. As the residence is for both short and long-stay guests, the laundry service is a welcome add-on.
